BALLS AT AFTH

On Thursday I spent a fantastic day at AFTH (when don't you spend a fantastic day at AFTH) with all my crafting friends. Today was a learning how to do backgrounds and my friend Ann particularly wanted Dy to show us how to do "balls", as you can imagine we had a bit of a laugh about this one. It looks  very easy painting balls on your art journal pages and when Dy does it definitely easy peasy but no it is not a simple thing to do. We painted our back grounds first, in pencil drew a border line all around the page and then drew our balls in the middle. To make them pop the secret is in the shading but I am not going to tell you how to do this you will have to book a backgrounds workshop or one of Dy's "pratting around days" at AFTH and go along and learn for yourselves.

STAMPOTIQUE DESIGNERS CHALLENGE 9

With Summer arriving the challenge over on Stampotique Designers is to make something which represents summer to you. Summer to me means long hot sunny days (if we are lucky), flowers and butterflies enjoying lots of colour in the garden. I decided to do a journal page showing what summer means to me. To begin with I used Tims flower masks with DIs Broken China, Worn Lipstick and Mustard Seed. I sprayed over various flower stencils using Tim's wash color sprays Butterscotch and Lettuce and Crafty Notions gold. The Flower girls etc are from the Stampotique range, I stamped them on to old book pages and coloured with DIs. The sentiments are a mixture of Stampotique and Wendy Vecchi, the single words are computer generated and Summer I cut from a mag. I stamped in white a Wendy Vecchi butterfly here and there but you may not be able to see that in the photo. The three birds are a 7Gypsies stamp. I am not sure if a journal page is acceptable for the challenge but here goes.

Anything Goes challenge 3

I have had a really busy week/weekend and haven't been able to do any crafting until today. I made this card for the "Anything Goes" challenge which was Monochrome, buttons and bows. For this card I have used Broken China DI, the papers are Tim's Vintage Shabby. There are 4 tiny buttons on the Happy B label and one in the Gorguss Girl's hair. The image I coloured with Copic Markers and she was very kindly donated by Gez. I have used lace here and there which I coloured with Broken China and my bow is down the side of the card.

"Anything Goes" Challenge No 2

It's week 2 over on "Anything Goes". There are lots of inspirational designs by the DT so why not pop over and have look and join in. This weeks challenge closes on Monday evening.
Here is my entry this week, the theme being lace, pearls, cream and pink.I used Victorian Velvet DI to cover the A5 card, layered a piece of Tim's Vintage Shabby, which I distressed around the edge on to the card. The flourish is from a Sizzix die, painted with Claudines Traditional Tan acrylic paint I then glued pearls on all the swirls. The frame around the Crafty Individuals image was coloured with Victorian Velvet and triple embossed with clear ultra thick embossing powder. I attached a piece of cream antique lace below the image and attached the cream flowers using dull gold brads. I think I may eventually use this as a birthday card for a friend whose birthday is in July I'm quite safe as she doesn,t have a PC.

WOYWW before and after

Hi all you WOYWWERS, I'm a little bit late in posting what's on my desk this week as I left home early this morning and didn't have time to post and I have more or less just arrived back home. I spent a very nice day in Liverpool with 3 of my crafting friends. The weather was nice over that side of the Pennines and we spent a leisurely time in a lovely art and craft shop and a few other shops. I managed to take a photo this morning before I left so you will see a tidy desk with very little on there. I have just taken another photo for you to enjoy showing crafting goodies I bought today, I have just dumped them on my desk, you are very welcome to have a rummage around.

FUN WITH ATC'S CHALLENGE 11

Seeing as I was just pipped at the post with challenge 10 (the stamp one)I decided not to miss out on ch 11 which started today. The theme is Football due to the World Cup starting. I hate football but inspite of that I managed to complete these 2 ATC's. Why 2 you may ask, well I did one for England in what I assume to be Englands colours and of course my DH being Spanish I thought I had better do one in their colours. The image I have used is a Stampotique Original and he is called Twinkie, I thought he looked like a "football hooligan". The England one I stamped the background using Tim's "Bitty Grunge" I used a Versafine red ink, the words are computer generated inked in Barn Door DI and I drew round them in black ink to make them pop. The football and emblem I found in a magazine, scanned and made smaller. I used Glossy Accents on the ball and Twinkie's boots. Edged the whole thing with a gold Krylon pen.
The Spanish one, background Barn Door and Wild Honey DI's. Stamped the image with black archival, coloured with Copics. Again the words are computer generated, football and picture of the cup are from a mag, I sprayed the cup with Crafty Notions Gold.

JUST MISSED IT.

On the challenge blog FUN WITH ATC's the challenge has been to use stamps. This is mine but unfortunately I have just missed the dead line I was too tired last night to post it but in the words of Master Mind "I have started so I'll finish". I cut the ATC with a pair of Fiskars stamp edge scissors, coloured with Vesamagic chalk ink-Spring Pansy, stamped all around the edge with a cherry blossom stamp in Versafine Imperial Purple. The actual stamp is from Vietmnam so I chose a little Asian girl to stamp on white card and colour with Copic Markers, I attached her using 3D foam pads to give it some depth. I had better get on with the next challenge so as not to miss again.

STAMPOTIQUE DESIGNERS CHALLENGE 8

The STAMPOTIQUE DESIGNERS CHALLENGE No8 is to create a card using the colour PURPLE as the main colour and a STAMPOTIQUE ORIGINAL. I cut a piece of purple card into an A5 size and layered several purple coloured papers on to the card. Some of the papers are from Basic Gray Euphoria and the other is a reversable from Daisy Bucket. I stamped my image KARIN on to white card and coloured her with Copic Markers, cut out the image and using 3D foam pads mounted her on to a torn paper. All the papers are torn edges or distressed and distressed even more using Dusty Concord DI. I layered a piece of lilac lace between the papers, attached a Prima flower and printed the sentiment on the computer. The sentiment is a famous saying and book "I Will Wear PURPLE When I Am 60". Karin is having to wear purple now being a girl with attitude she states "When I am 60 I will NOT wear PURPLE"

"Anything Goes" Challenge No 1

There is a new Challenge Blog on the block called "Anything Goes". This has been organised by the Craft Den by Lynne and can be found on "Lynne's Blog". So get yourselves over there and see what it is all about.
The very first challenge of the month is: Colours- Blue, Brown and Yellow, the theme is "Wings".
Here's my entry to this first challenge, it is an ATC using one of the Maya Road ATC cards coloured the background with Mustard Seed and Broken China DIs. The background is stamped in Archival olive using a very useful Paper Artsy stamp from the Hot Picks range. The butterfly is a Wendy Vechi which I stamped on to grunge paper using black Archival colourd with Mustard Seed and stuck 3 little yellow pearls down the middle. The Moon Girl Fairy is from Stampotique, stamped on Grunge paper coloured with Copics and Star Dust Stickles spread on her wings for a little bit of glitter. The mushrooms are from one of Jo Capper-Sandon's new range for Stampotique. I stamped these on to Grunge Paper too and coloured with Tea Dye DI, the dark brown spots are done with a Copic Marker pen.

WOYWWAC

Hi everyone. Today is a special day one WOYWW, if you are a stranger to this then pop over to Julia's on the Stamping Ground blog and see what it is all about. There are well over 100 peeps who now take part each Wednesday but today is a special anniversary as WOYWW as been going on for over a year, this is the 52nd week today. Some of us are not only showing what is on our craft tables etc but have made a little something as a celebration, go and take a look there are some wonderful examples of art work out there in blog land. I have displayed my tags on my 7 Gypsies display board (forgotten it's proper name lol). I covered my tags with DI's and sprays, stamped on them using Hot Picks from Paper Artsy, the butterflies are from a Wendy Vechi stamp. I also used some of Paper Artsy's new dies and Tims too. The letters WOYWW are from Tim's grunge alphabets which I painted with a gold dabber and then drew around them with a black pitt pen, once on the tag, to make them pop.
